Collaboration & Leadership

If we don't protect and improve the South Shore's future, WHO will?

Leadership and collaboration are critical strategies to economic growth and few organizations are better positioned to bring people together than the Chamber. Our mission and work center on convening the public sector, non-profits and the business community.

In collaboration with South Shore Bank, the Chamber runs Leadership South Shore, a year-long experiential program that engages and informs a select group of for-profit and nonprofit professionals on issues affecting our communities. Another program led by Chamber volunteers, Leadership in Action serves hundreds of area high school girls to prepare for their own futures as confident individuals contributing to our communities and future economy.

In addition to leadership programs, we have formal affiliations with several local chambers, non-profits, and even a grassroots civic group to support their respective missions.

With increasing frequency, our work continues to attract local government (ie. town planners, administrators, managers) to gain businesses community support and assistance for their own local development plans.

As we build the future of the South Shore, who are the new leaders to drive it?

There is no shortage of how we can collaborate with businesses and organizations to achieve positive, beneficial results for our region.  South Shore 2030 will not succeed without a new wave of leaders.  Find out how you can be part of the future.

Next Steps

  • Workforce development.  More organizations are finding a challenge in recruiting and retaining talent for their business.  Most regions are and the successful regions will those that can compete for talent.
  • Leadership.  As the region is aging and business turnover there is a looming challenge in bringing along new leaders.   Who will be stepping up in an organization?  Who will be stepping out briefly from their organization to help lead in their communities or are non-profits? How do we help groom the next generation of community leaders from the private sector?
