About Us

Implementation of the strategy is underway...

The South Shore 2030 plan is a comprehensive strategy to promote economic growth, job creation and stronger communities. It represents a multi-year blueprint for better diversifying the regional economy and raising the quality of life for all residents of the South Shore. The strategy leveraged comprehensive research to identify and advance a handful of key initiatives to enable the South Shore to compete more effectively for the most sought-after jobs and talent in today’s economy. Even as its economy is elevated, the region’s diversity of towns will continue to be a major strength and drawing card for existing and future residents and businesses.

The initial steps of South Shore 2030 have been taken by the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. We have re-established the South Shore Economic Development Corporation, launched the housing initiative, begun some collaborative projects with municipalities and worked on mass transit issues and other ongoing development concerns.

But we're just starting. The region has a long way to go if it is to compete for growth and it doesn’t happen with just one or two steps or without financial backing.
The South Shore Chamber of Commerce cannot drive every strategic priority. Rather, the Chamber will lead some of the priorities and will also serve to support those priorities being spearheaded by other groups or public officials that help to promote the larger 2030 strategy.

Successful implementation will ultimately hinge on the region’s ability to establish a framework for cooperation and collaboration.
