The Plan

To preserve what we have...we must change where we are headed.

South Shore 2030: Choosing Our Future is a comprehensive agenda to preserve the quality of life on the South Shore and promote future economic growth for everyone. Other regions intentionally compete for talent and business.  So should we. Executed by business leaders through the South Shore Chamber of Commerce and South Shore Economic Development Corporation, the plan strategies range from business assistance to infrastructure to housing to public private partnerships.
People
Grow and attract new businesses while recruiting a strong workforce that will work local and drive a diverse consumer economy on the South Shore.
Collaboration
Fortify solid PARTNERSHIPS between local governments, not-for-profit organizations, and the private sector for the greater good.
Places
Deliver on what employees and employers desire and that is developing attractive and engaging place-making communities with full-service capabilities.
Infrastructure
Create more employment options in the region by improving infrastructure and transportation offerings.

REALITY CHECK

Picture
The South Shore is aging faster than any other metro Boston region.
Picture

Employment is high in industries that are consolidating and shedding jobs.

Picture

Lack of housing limits employers' ability to recruit & retain talent.

Picture

Infrastructure challenges - water, wastewater, & intraregional transportation limits our community growth.
